My First Observation

So… today I did my very first classroom observation. It was really interesting, actually, because I did it in my 2nd grade teacher’s classroom at the elementary school I attended for 4th and 5th grade. I was so nervous as I pulled up to the school because I literally haven’t been inside an elementary school classroom since I was in 5th grade…12 years ago. For some reason when I woke up and started getting dressed my life flashed forward a couple of months, and I really got this overwhelming feeling of reality! It made me excited, but nervous at the same time! As if on cue, as I pulled up to the school the song that I have unofficially deemed my “growing up, graduating, and leaving Las Vegas” song came on the radio, and, as corny as it sounds, I really just felt this quick wave of emotion come over me! In the end, the observation went great, and it was so exciting to walk back down the halls that I walked before- the memories came flooding back to me! It was really exciting to be able to watch my 2nd grade teacher as an actual observer rather than as a student, and she really gave me a lot of comfort in what I’m going to be doing. I picked up some super cute ideas for spelling and math games (SPARKLE and Back-to-back) and a fun little saying for writing a paragraph. I even ate lunch in the so-off-limits teachers’ lounge! haha… I guess I’m now official. Anyway, here is a piece of the lyrics for the song… they so fit my life right now.

Ready, Set, Don’t Go (Billy Ray & Miley Cyrus)

I’m at the starting line of the rest of my life
As ready as I’ve ever been
Got the hunger and the stars in my eyes
The prize is mine to win
She’s waiting on my blessings before she hits that open road
Well, (Gotta get ready to go)baby, get ready, get set,(set) don’t go
